FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Benedict College volleyball team won all six matches at the SIAC Crossover Tournament at Kentucky State University over the weekend.
The Lady Tigers won five of the six matches in straight games, and dropped just one game in the entire tournament.
Benedict opened play with a 25-13, 30-28, 25-18 victory over Stillman. Latayvia Mack had 22 kills and two service aces.
Ashley Jackson had 39 assists, four service aces and seven digs.
Lorena Leao had 15 kills and five service aces, and
Tyrealle Reed had 14 digs and two service aces.
Next up, Benedict defeated LeMoyne –Owen, 25-17, 25-20, 25-17. Mack had 19 kills out of 24 attempts and only two errors. Jackson had 37 assists, Leao had 10 kills and Reed had 16 digs.
On Friday, Benedict beat Tuskegee, 25-11, 25-17, 25-17. Mack had 18 kills out of 21 attempts, committing just three errors. Jackson had 33 assists, and Reed had 12 digs three service aces.
Also on Friday, Benedict beat Miles, 25-17, 25-11, 25-15. Mack had 15 kills out 18 attempts with only three errors and had three service aces. Jackson had 18 assists playing in only two games of the match.
Also on Friday, Benedict beat Kentucky State 25-22, 12-25, 25-16, 25-23. Mack had 21 kills out of 30 attempts with six errors, and added four service aces, two solo blocks and one block assist. Jackson had 28 assists and eight digs.
On Saturday, Benedict beat Lane, 25-17, 25-9, 25-17. Mack had 11 kills out of 13 attempts. Leao had eight digs. Jackson had 19 assists, while Ruth Simms added 11 assists. Reed had 15 digs.
Benedict, now 9-1 on the season, returns to action on Saturday, travelling to North Greenville in a rematch with the Crusaders, the only team to defeat the Lady Tigers this season.
