Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Benedict College volleyball team hit just .146 for the match and dropped a 3-0 decision to Fayetteville State University in a non-conference volleyball match on Tuesday.
Fayetteville State won 25-21, 25-19, 25-14. Benedict drops to 11-7 overall. Fayetteville State improved to 17-3.
In the first set, Benedict trailed 14-13 when Fayetteville State went on a 6-1 run to take a 20-14 lead. The Lady Broncos were ahead 24-16 when the Lady Tigers scored five straight points to cut the lead to 24-21 before a Benedict service error gave Fayetteville State the game point.
The second set, Benedict had a 10-8 lead when Fayetteville State pulled ahead with a 6-1 run and went on to take the 25-19 win.
The Lady Tigers trailed 12-10 in the third set when Fayetteville State pulled away with a 9-2 run. Benedict hit just .087 in the third set, recording just seven kills.
Fayetteville State recorded 13 service aces. Benedict, which came into the game leading Division II in service aces, recorded six.
LaTayvia Mack had a team-high 12 kills.
Ashley Jackson had 24 assists.
Lorena Leao had seven kills and a team-high 11 digs.
The Lady Tigers are off until Oct. 24, when they travel to face Claflin.
