Box Score 4 TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Benedict College volleyball team opened up the 2012 season by going 2-2 at the North Greenville Tournament over the weekend.
Benedict opened the tournament with a 3-0 victory over Shaw University, 25-15, 25-14, 25-14, on Friday.
LaTayvia Mack had 19 kills, hitting .526, while Terea Sweeting added 16 kills.
Lorena Leao had 14 kills.
Ashley Jackson had 20 assists, while
Je'Nae Saunders led the defense with 11 digs, while
Alexis Flagler had three blocks.
In their first game on Saturday, the Lady Tigers defeated Voorhees 3-0, 25-10, 25-12, 25-11. Mack had 23 kills while hitting .478. Sweeting had 17 kills and hit .588. Jackson had 30 assists.
Brevard College took a 3-0 victory over the Lady Tigers in the next match, 25-15, 25-17, 26-24. Mack had 27 kills, while Sweeting added 20. Jackson had 21 assists and six digs.
In the final match, host North Greenville took a 3-0 victory over Benedict, 25-9, 25-22, 25-16. Mack had 29 kills, while Leao added 16 and Sweeting had 14. Jackson had 20 assists.
Benedict opens SIAC play in its next match, facing Paine College in Augusta, Ga., on Tuesday, Sept. 11.
