Lady Tigers Go Undefeated In SIAC Crossover

FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Benedict College volleyball team won all six matches at the SIAC Crossover and remained undefeated.

After beating Miles and Stillman on Thursday, Benedict downed LeMoyne-Owen on Friday in three straight games (25-22, 25-15, 25-11) as Tatyana Robinson had a team-high 14 kills and Ashley Jackson had 38 assists.

Benedict then rallied from a 2-1 deficit to beat Kentucky State in a thrilling five-game match, 3-2 (18-25, 25-19, 16-25, 25-21, 15-10). The Lady Tigers handed the Lady Thorobreds their first loss of the season.

Terae Sweeting had a team-high 19 kills against Kentucky State and hit .351. Lorena Leao added 16 kills and 10 digs. Jennifer Anderson added 11 digs, Robinson had 10 kills and Jackson had 45 assists.

Benedict easily dispatched Lane on Saturday in three games (25-10, 25-5, 25-6). Robinson had 18 kills to lead the offense, while Jackson had 39 assists. Benedict recorded 22 service aces, including 10 by Jackson.

The Lady Tigers closed out the Crossover with another five-game marathon victory over Tuskegee. Benedict jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but then Tuskegee won the next two games to tie the match. The Lady Tigers won the final game to claim the victory (25-19, 25-22, 23-25, 25-27, 15-7).

Leao led the Lady Tigers against Tuskegee with 17 kills and 10 digs. Sweeting added 14 kills and Jackson had 46 assists.

The Lady Tigers improved to 8-0 overall and 8-0 in the SIAC. The Lady Tigers return to action on Oct. 4 traveling to Atlanta to face Clark Atlanta and Talladega College.
