AIKEN, S.C. – USC Aiken outscored Benedict 15-7 over the final 6:47 of the fourth period to take a 68-61 victory over Benedict College in a women's college basketball non-conference match on Wednesday night in the Convocation Center.
Benedict fell to 0-2 on the season. USC Aiken won its first game after starting the season 0-2.
Zairra Harris led the Lady Tigers with 21 points.
MiKeisha Moore added 15 points.
Shanaissa White and
Destiny Betts had eight rebounds each.
Benedict took a 54-53 lead on a jumper by Harris. The Lady Pacers regained the lead on a 3-pointer by Carly Gilreath. Another basket by Harris cut the lead to 61-59 with 1:50 left to play, but USC Aiken answered with a 3-pointer by Rachelle Aupont.
Michala Robinson hit two free throws with 1:09 to play to cut the lead to 64-61, but the Lady Pacers closed out the game with four free throws.
Benedict travels to Elizabeth City, N.C. to take on Elizabeth City State on Friday and Chowan on Saturday.
