COLUMBIA, S.C. – Destiny Betts had her third 20-20 game of the season, scoring 23 points and grabbing 20 rebounds, to help lift the Benedict College Lady Tigers to an 88-68 victory over the Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers in an SIAC matchup on Saturday afternoon in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
The Lady Tigers extended their winning streak to seven games, improving to 13-7 overall and 9-1 in the SIAC. Clark Atlanta drops to 6-12 overall and 2-7 in the SIAC.
Clark Atlanta jumped out to an early 11-2 lead, but Benedict rallied and took an 18-17 lead on a pair of free throws by Betts and had a 21-19 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Lady Panthers led 23-21 early in the second quarter, but then the Lady Tigers scored the next 10 points and never looked back. Betts scored the final basket of the first half for a 36-28 lead. A four-point play by Shanaissa White gave Benedict a 21-point lead, 58-37, with 2:11 left in the third.
MiKeisha Moore hit six 3-pointers and scored 18 points for the Lady Tigers. White and Zairra Harris had 12 points each.
Sydni Davis led Clark Atlanta with 21 points.
Benedict outrebounded Clark Atlanta 50-31.
The Lady Tigers return to action on Tuesday, hosting Claflin at 5:30 p.m.
