COLUMBIA, S.C. –
Adrionna Washington had her fourth straight double-kill game with a team-high 16 kills to help lead the Benedict College Lady Tigers to a 3-0 victory over Paine College on Thursday night in a SIAC volleyball match.
Benedict won the match 25-23, 25-13, 25-23 to improve to 11-10 overall and 7-7 in the SIAC. Paine falls to 3-17 overall and 1-12 in the SIAC.
Taylor Stephens added nine kills and four blocks.
Brianne McMillian had 38 assists, while
Majda Cisic had a team-high 13 digs.
In the first set, Paine scored four straight points to pull away from an 11-11 tie to take a 15-11 lead. Paine had a 23-21 lead before the Lady Tigers closed out the set with the final four points. Washington had a kill, then McMillian scored an ace. Washington then had back-to-back kills for the win.
Benedict used a 10-0 run in the second set to take a big lead.
Olivia Williams served during that run, getting one ace. Stephens had three kills during that span.
Kiarra Pettway and
Arneshia Parrish got the final two points on kills.
In the third set, Benedict got back-to-back service aces by Cisic for a 17-12 lead. Paine rallied back to cut the lead to 23-22, but the Lady Tigers got a kill by Stephens to close out the match.
Benedict is back in action on Friday, traveling to Claflin for a 6 p.m. match.
