FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat Benedict College 58-53 in a SIAC women's basketball game on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Tigers jumped out to an 11-point lead at the end of the first quarter and held a 31-23 lead at the half. Kentucky State cut the lead to 44-40 heading into the fourth quarter. The Thorobrettes opened the fourth quarter with a 12-1 run to take a 52-45 lead.
Benedict falls to 3-11 overall and 3-3 in the SIAC. Kentucky State moves to 3-10 overall and 3-3 in the SIAC.
Ay'Anna Bey led the Lady Tigers with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
After shooting 43.33 percent in the first half, the Lady Tigers cooled off to shoot 20.59 percent (7-of-34) in the second half to finish at 31.3 percent for the game.
The Lady Tigers are back in action on Monday when they play at Central State at 2 p.m.
