BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Benedict College volleyball team finished 3-4 at the SIAC Crossover Tournament at the Birmingham Crossplex complex.
The Lady Tigers dropped their first two matches on Thursday to Spring Hill College and Lane College before rebounding to take a 3-2 victory over Tuskegee. Benedict swept Central State 3-0 on Friday before dropping a 3-0 decision to Kentucky State. The Lady Tigers wrapped up the crossover event with a 3-0 win over Miles before dropping a 3-0 decision to LeMoyne-Owen.
Adrionna Washington led the Benedict offense at the Crossover with 71 total kills in the seven matches. She had 14 kills against Lane.
Torcealon Kelley was second on the team with 46 kills and added 58 digs. Kelley was named the SIAC Defensive Player of the Week last week.
Brianne McMillian had 175 assists for an average of 7.29 per set. She recorded 40 assists in the five-set win over Tuskegee and added 30 assists against Lane. McMillan had four double-doubles during the tournament, with 30 assists and 13 digs against Lane and 20 assists and 17 digs against Kentucky State.
Defensively,
Majda Cisic led the Lady Tigers with 111 digs for an average of 4.83 per set. She had 20 digs against Lane and 19 against Central State.
Benedict returns home for a busy week of action. The Lady Tigers host Albany State on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and play Columbia College in a non-conference match on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Friday, the Lady Tigers host conference rival Claflin at 6 p.m. Saturday, Benedict will take on Morris and Allen at Allen University.
