SALISBURY, N.C. – Livingstone College rallied after losing the first set to take the next three sets for a 3-1 non-conference volleyball victory over Benedict College on Wednesday night.

Livingstone won the match 19-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-14 to improve to 7-11 on the season. Benedict falls to 12-10 on the season.

Benedict jumped out to a quick 6-1 lead in the first set and held the lead throughout the set. The Lady Tigers had a 23-14 lead before the Lady Blue Bears scored five points in a row to cut the lead to 23-19. After a Livingstone service error, Kiera Brothers closed out the set with a kill.

The second set was tight from the start, with neither team holding more than a two-point advantage until Livingstone scored three points in a row for a 23-20 lead. Benedict closed the gap to 23-22 after kills by Adrionna Washington and Brothers. After trading points, Livingstone closed out the set with a kill.

Benedict had a 20-18 lead in the third set, but Livingstone surged ahead by scoring seven of the next eight points. The Lady Tigers had an 8-7 lead early in the fourth set before the Lady Blue Blears went on another big run, scoring the next 12 straight points and 16 of the next 18 points to easily win the set and close out the match.

Benedict had a negative hitting percentage in the final three sets and hit -.017 for the match, committing more attack errors (35) than kills (33) on their 121 total attacks. Washington led the Lady Tigers with nine kills. Brothers and V'Aira Harris added six kills each. Alia Gomez had 12 digs. Ashleigh Reeves had 17 assists.

Benedict travels to Paine College on Monday for a 6:30 p.m. match.
