MOBILE, Ala. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers jumped out to an early lead and held on for an 83-55 victory over Spring Hill College in a SIAC women's basketball game on Monday night.
The Lady Tigers scored the first seven points of the game and had a 24-13 lead at the end of the first quarter. Benedict used a 20-2 run in the second quarter to build a 49-21 lead and were never threatened again. The lead grew to as much as 31 points, 62-31, in the third quarter.
Benedict improves to 8-3 overall and 3-0 in the SIAC. Spring Hill falls to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in the SIAC.

Ayanna Armstead scored 18 points each to lead the Lady Tigers. Bey had a double-double by pulling down 12 rebounds.
Andresha Smith added eight points and grabbed 14 rebounds, both season highs.
The Lady Tigers return to action on Wednesday with a non-conference road game at Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C. for a 4 p.m. contest for their final game before the Christmas break. Benedict will be back home on Dec. 31 for a 5:30 p.m. game against Kentucky State.
