Benedict Volleyball Wins Three At SIAC Crossover

ALBANY, Ga. – The Benedict College swept the competition on the second day of the SIAC Crossover Tournament, beating Central State, Miles and Lane.

The Lady Tigers started the day with a 3-1 victory over Central State. V'Aira Harris had a double-double with 13 kills and 16 digs. Adrionna Washington had 13 kills and three bloks, while Kierra Brothers also recorded 13 kills. Ashleigh Reeves also had a double-double with 32 assists and 10 digs. Majda Cisic led the defense with 17 digs.

The Lady Tigers followed that with a 3-0 victory over Miles. Benedict opened the match by taking a grueling 30-28 victory in the first set. Four straight points late in the set gave Benedict a 24-22 lead, but the Lady Golden Bears of Miles came back to tie the set at 24, then again at 25, 26 and 28. Benedict was finally able to close out the match with kills by Harris and Taylor Stephens. The Lady Tigers edged out another close one in the second set, 25-23, with Brothers delivering the final kill. Benedict scored four of the final five points in the third set to win 25-21 with Brothers again coming up strong late in the match, recording the final two kills.

Brothers had a team-high 12 kills against Miles. Cisic had a team-high 17 digs and Reeves recorded 11 assists.

The final match of the day was a 3-0 victory over Lane. Washington led the Lady Tigers with 13 kills and four blocks. Cisic had 19 digs, while Reeves recorded 15 assists while Ka'Tia Wright added 13 assists.

Benedict, now 7-6 overall and 4-2 in the SIAC, will close out crossover play on Saturday morning against Spring Hill.
