COLUMBIA, S.C. – Benedict pulled off a comeback victory, rallying from a 2-1 deficit to win 3-2 over Allen University on Thursday night in a nonconference volleyball match.
The Lady Tigers won the match 25-19, 18-25, 12-25, 25-22, 15-6 to improve to 11-9 on the season. Allen falls to 3-18.
In the first set, Benedict went on a 7-2 run to take a 20-9 lead and would hold off a surging Allen team to win the set 25-19. Allen jumped out to a 5-3 lead in the second set before going on a 12-4 run to extend their lead to 17-7. The Yellow Jackets would go on to win the set.
Allen jumped out to a 19-5 lead in the third set and would never look back, winning 25-12. In the fourth set, the score went back and forth until the Lady Tigers went on a 5-2 run to end the set.
In the fifth set, Benedict jumped out to a 10-4 lead and would go on to win the set 15-6 and clinch the victory.
Adrionna Washington led the Lady Tigers with 22 kills and two blocks. Daija Walton added 10 kills and one block, while Ashleigh Reeves contributed with 27 assists and two aces.
Benedict will travel to Albany, Ga to play Albany State University on Sunday at 1Â p.m.
