ALBANY, Ga. – A strong first half led the Benedict College Lady Tigers past Albany State University, 85-52, on Saturday afternoon in a SIAC women's basketball game.

Benedict improves to 23-3 overall and 14-2 in the SIAC. Albany State falls to 6-19 overall and 3-11 in the SIAC.

Ay'Anna Bey led the Lady Tigers with 22 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Bey also added a team-high nine rebounds. Shanassia White added 11 points, seven assists, and eight rebounds, while Amaya Ashby contributed with 12 points and seven rebounds.

Bey scored 15 of her 22 points in the first half, helping to give Benedict a 46-23 lead heading into halftime. Albany State went on an 8-0 run from the end of the second quarter to the beginning of the third to close the gap to 46-28 with 08:59 remaining in the third.

The Lady Tigers continued to pull away from the Golden Rams, extending their lead to a game-high 35 points just before the end of the fourth quarter.

Benedict outscored Albany State 38-5 in points off turnovers, while also holding a 49-10 advantage in bench scoring.

Benedict will travel to play their final regular season game against Paine College on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in Augusta, Ga.
