Benedict's Cummings To Participate In NFL HBCU Combine

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Robert Cummings, a senior defensive back for the Benedict College football team, has been selected to participate in the 2020 NFL HBCU combine, which will take place in South Florida on March 27-28.

Teams will be allowed to interview invitees on the evening of March 27. On-field workouts will occur during the morning of March 28 at the Miami Dolphins practice facility.

Cummings totaled 204 tackles and nine interceptions over his four years at Benedict College, including five of his seven career interceptions coming during his junior season.

Cummings led the Tigers with 52 solo-tackles, two interceptions, and was second on the team with 65 total tackles on the 2019 season, and was Benedict's only SIAC All-Conference selection. In arguably his best collegiate performance, Cummings tallied 13 tackles and one interception in a 24-21 loss to Miles College in mid-October.

Notable participants include: Jean Cyraique, 2019 first team all-conference in the SIAC, Ryan Stanley, 2019 MEAC Offensive Player of the Year, Darius Royster, 2019 MEAC Defensive Player of the Year, and Marcus Pettiford, 2019 MEAC Offensive Lineman of the Year.
