COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers defeated Ashland University, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference tennis match.
Benedict improves to 7-2 overall, while Ashland drops to 11-13.
Beverly Matsiwe won 6-1, 6-3 in No. 1 singles, while
Catina Gamo won 6-1, 6-2 in No. 2 singles.
Karina Izakova also won 6-1, 6-2 in No. 3 singles.
Shakendra Alston won 6-3, 6-3 in No. 4 singles to give the Lady Tigers a 4-2 advantage in singles play.
Matsiwe and Izakova were the only Benedict doubles team to win on Sunday as they defeated Zoe Rosu and Anna Hart in No. 1 doubles, 6-3.
Benedict will host Western Illinois University Monday at 2 p.m. as they look for their eighth straight victory.
