ALBANY, Ga. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers closed out the regular season with one of their best defensive performances in an 85-29 victory over Albany State on Saturday.
Benedict held Albany State scoreless for the entire first quarter as the Lady Golden Rams missed all nine field goal attempts and two free-throw attempts in the period. Albany State finally got on the board with 9:22 left in the second period, and the Lady Tigers had a 41-5 lead at the half.
Benedict improves to 11-3 on the season. Albany State falls to 0-10.
Ay'Anna Bey had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Ayanna Armstead and
Wykira Johnson-Kelly added 13 points each. All 12 Benedict players scored.
The Lady Tigers held Albany State to 17.4 percent shooting (8-of-46), a season low for a Benedict opponent.
