FORT VALLEY, Ga. – Freshman
Taylor Christmas scored a career-high 18 points and grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds as the Benedict College Lady Tigers rolled over Fort Valley State, 92-51, on Monday night in SIAC action.
Benedict used a 14-0 run early in the first quarter to take a 14-2 lead and had a 21-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. The lead grew to as much as 24 in the second quarter before the Lady Wildcats closed out the first half with a basket and made it 46-24 at the half. The Lady Tigers grew the lead to 29 points, 73-44, at the end of the third quarter. Benedict had an 11-0 run in the fourth quarter to grow the lead to 40 points, 88-48.
Ayanna Armstead led the Lady Tigers with a season-high 21 points, connecting on five 3-pointers.
Ay'Anna Bey chipped in 11 points.
Shanassia White grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds.
Benedict improves to 15-6 overall and 9-2 in the SIAC. Fort Valley State falls to 5-12 overall and 2-9 in the SIAC.
The Lady Tigers and Lady Wildcats will have a rematch on Saturday afternoon in Columbia.
