COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Benedict took a 3-1 victory over Fort Valley State University in SIAC women's volleyball action on Wednesday night and clinched a berth in the 2022 Cricket SIAC Volleyball Championship.
Benedict won the match 25-20, 25-23, 19-25, 27-25 to improve to 13–12 overall and 7-10 in the SIAC. Fort Valley falls to 6-20 overall and 3-9 in the SIAC.
The Lady Tigers secured the fourth seed in the SIAC East Division with the victory. The 2022 Cricket SIAC Volleyball Championship will take place November 10-12 at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Ala.
The Lady Tigers had 50 kills in the match. Cana Smith led the Benedict effort with 14 kills. Jordan Gilbert had nine kills and T'Yannah Lake added seven kills. Jade Hollins had 26 assists. Cana Smith, La'Jai Wilson and Jordan Williams combined for 44 digs in a defensive team effort.
Benedict wraps up the regular season on Thursday with a home match against rival Allen University at 6:30 p.m. The Lady Tigers will celebrate Senior Day for three seniors.
