ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Benedict College men's volleyball team's run in the inaugural SIAC Championship came to an end on Thursday, as Edward Waters took a 3-0 victory.
Edward Waters won the match 25-19, 25-19, 25-19 to advance to the championship match against Central State. Benedict wraps up the season at 9-15 and finishes in third place at the SIAC Championship.
Ras Jesse Delancy led the Tigers with 12 kills.
Terran Walkin had 20 assists.
Benedict hit just .178 compared to .326 for Edward Waters.
The first set was tied at 12 before Edward Waters pulled away with four straight points. The lead increased to 22-15. Benedict scored four of the next six points to close the gap to 24-19. Edward Waters clinched the set on a Benedict service error.
Edward Waters jumped out to an early 9-3 lead in the second set and kept the lead the entire way to win the second set.
The third set was tight early and was tied 11-11 midway through the set. Edward Waters scored the next four points to take the lead and held the lead for the rest of the way and clinched the match with a kill.
