MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Nationally second-ranked Barry University swept the Benedict College men's tennis team 4-0 on Monday in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Championship.
After Barry earned the doubles point by winning at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, the Bucs won at No. 2., No. 4 and No. 6 singles to clinch the match.
Mark Chigaazira dropped the first set against Alejandro Palacios, the seventh-ranked individual in Division II at No. 1 singles, but was leading 3-2 when Barry clinched the match.
Jason Chigaazira lost his first set 6-1 at No. 5 singles, but was leading 3-1 in the second set against Arnau Rodriguez, the 73
rd-ranked individual in Division II.
The Tigers wrap up their season with a 16-5 record.
