SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers opened the 2023-24 season on Tuesday, falling to Converse College, 63-49.
 
The Lady Tigers shot 29.1 percent for the game, including 20.5 percent in the first half, as they trailed 35-21 at the half.
 
Converse grew the lead to as much as 21 points, 44-23, early in the third quarter, and trailed 57-36 after a Converse 3-pointer to open the fourth quarter.
 
Ghylissa Knowles led the Lady Tigers, scoring 12 points in her Benedict debut. Shakera Duncan had a double-double with 11 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Raven Johnson also scored 11 points, and grabbed nine rebounds.
 
Benedict travels to Fairfield, Ala., this weekend to take on Miles and LeMoyne-Owen in the SIAC East/West Challenge.
