WILBERFORCE, Ohio – Central State scored 14 unanswered points in the second quarter to build up a 23-point lead and went on to take a 86-72 victory over Benedict College in a SIAC women's basketball contest on Saturday.
Benedict shot a season-low 27.3 percent in the game, connecting on 21-of-77 field goals. The Lady Tigers started the game shooting 2-of-16 in the first quarter.
Ghylissa Knowles scored a season-high 16 points to lead the Lady Tigers.
Aaliyah Lawrence added 13 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
Taylor Christmas added 12 points.
Benedict falls to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in the SIAC. Central State improves to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in the SIAC.
The Lady Tigers continue their road trip with a game against Kentucky State on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
