COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College men's tennis team opened the 2023 season on Wednesday, falling to Augusta University 6-1 at Southeast Park.
 
Augusta won two doubles matches to earn the doubles point.
 
Mark Chigaazira won Benedict's point of the match with a 3-6, 6-3, 10-7 victory at No. 1 singles over Augusta's Enzo Garutti.
 
Jason Chigaazira lost a close first set in a tiebreaker before dropping the second set 6-3.
 
Benedict returns to action on Saturday, traveling to Sumter to take on USC Sumter and The Citadel.
