ALBANY, Ga. – The Benedict College women's volleyball team went 4-1 at the SIAC Crossover Tournament to improve to 9-3 on the season.
The Lady Tigers opened the crossover with three wins on Friday, beating Kentucky State 3-1, Miles College 3-2 and Tuskegee 3-0. On Saturday, Benedict defeated Central State 3-1 before falling to Spring Hill, the SIAC's four-time defending conference champions.
Benedict is now 7-3 in SIAC play.
Cana Smith had 16 kills and
Desire' Young added 10 in the four-set win over Kentucky State.
Against Miles, Benedict trailed 2-1 before scoring four of the final five points to clinch the crucial fourth set 25-21 and force a deciding fifth set. Benedict used a seven-point run in the fifth set to take a 12-4 lead and held off a late Miles rally for a 15-11 victory.
Cana Smith led the offense with 18 kills and added 11 digs for a double-double.

Desire' Young had seven kills and Benedict hit a season-high .312 as a team.
The Lady Tigers opened play on Saturday morning with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Central State, claiming a 25-20, 25-22, 26-28, 25-20 victory.
Cana Smith led the way once again with 13 kills.
In the final match, the Lady Tigers fell 3-0 to Spring Hill, hitting a season-low -.009, registering just 17 total kills and committing 18 errors.
Kaiah Green had a team-high five kills for Benedict.
The Lady Tigers return home for a non-conference contest against Livingstone at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, before facing rival Allen at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
