COLUMBIA, S.C. –
Krislenn Lucas had a career-high 10 kills, and
T'yannah Lake also had 10 kills as the Benedict College women's volleyball team swept Paine College 3-0 on Tuesday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
The Lady Tigers, playing their first home match since Oct. 5, won easily, taking the match 25-17, 25-14, 25-12. Benedict improves to 13-7 overall. Paine falls to 8-10.
Paine had a 9-7 lead in the first set before Benedict scored 12 of the next 15 points. The Lady Tigers closed out the set by scoring six of the final eight points.
Paine had an 8-5 lead in the second set before Benedict went on another big run, scoring the next six points to take the lead for good. The Lady Tigers went on another 7-1 run to push the lead to 18-11. They closed out the set with a 7-2 run, finishing the set with kills from
Aliyah Jones and
Kennedi Hill.
The Lady Tigers kept the momentum going into the third set, jumping out to an early 13-2 lead and cruising to the 25-12 victory.
Benedict travels to take on Clinton College in Rock Hill, S.C. on Wednesday in another non-conference match. They return home on Friday for a 6 p.m. SIAC contest against Clark Atlanta.
