FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers won their third straight match, taking a 3-0 women's volleyball match against Fort Valley State on Saturday.
Benedict won the match 25-23, 25-22, 25-17 to improve to 16-8 overall and 10-6 in the SIAC. Fort Valley State falls to 11-7 overall and 9-7 in the SIAC.
Nyla Troncoso led the offense with eight kills, while
Kaiah Green had seven kills and
Desire' Young added six kills.
Brandi Seaborn had a team-high seven digs, while
Willow Alls had 17 assists.
Fort Valley State had a 22-21 lead late in the first set, when Benedict scored three consecutive points, getting a kill from Young and a service ace from Alls. The Wildcats cut the lead to 24-23, but the Lady Tigers closed out the set on a Fort Valley error.
Benedict used a 7-0 run in the second set to build a 13-7 lead and held the lead for the rest of the set. The Wildcats cut the lead to 23-21, but Benedict got a kill from Young to make it 24-21. Fort Valley State scored the next point, but Benedict won the set on a Fort Valley service error.
Benedict had a 10-0 run in the third set behind the service of
T'yannah Lake. Benedict scored four of the final five points, including the match winner on a kill by
Kylie Jackson.
The Lady Tigers travel to take on Albany State on Sunday at 2 p.m.
