AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers closed out 2024 by scoring a season-high 113 points and had seven players score in double figures in a 113-63 non-conference women's basketball game on Tuesday.
Benedict scored the first six points of the game, but Paine rallied to take a 14-10 lead in the first quarter. The Lady Tigers closed out the first quarter by scoring the final nine points for a 19-14 lead and never trailed again.
The Lady Tigers used an 11-0 run in the second quarter to build the lead to 43-30 and had a 51-37 lead at the half. Benedict opened the second half with a 14-0 run to increase the lead to 65-37 and pushed the lead to 79-48 heading into the fourth quarter. Benedict had another 14-0 run early in the fourth quarter to increase the lead to 97-50.
Alaysia Nash led the Lady Tigers with 17 points, while
Ghylissa Knowles added 14 points.
Ciara Hardy and
Taylor Christmas scored 12 points each, while
Gwendasia Page,
Jaleya Ford and
Raven Johnson all chipped in 10 points. Page also grabbed a season-high 14 rebounds.
The Lady Tigers return to action on Thursday with a SIAC contest against Central State at 5:30 p.m.
