CLEVELAND, Ga. – Truett-McConnell swept the Benedict College men's volleyball team 3-0 in a non-conference match on Saturday.
Truett-McConnell won 25-21, 25-19, 25-23 to improve to 2-4 on the season. Benedict falls to 0-5.
The first set was close, with Benedict trailing 19-18 before the Bears scored the next three points, all on Benedict errors. Benedict cut the lead to 23-21, but Truett-McConnell got a pair of kills to close out the first set.
The Tigers had a 14-8 lead in the second set, but saw it slip away as the Bears rallied. The Tigers had a 17-16 lead, but the Bears scored the next eight points for a 24-17 lead. Benedict scored the next two points, before Truett-McConnell got a kill to finish the set.
The third set was close the entire way. The Tigers scored three points in a row to take a 21-20 lead, but the Bears scored the next three points. Kills by
Camron Petillo and
Marlon Belizaire tied the match at 23, but the Bears closed out the match with a kill and an ace.
Jackson Fehring-Terrell led the Tigers with eight kills, while Petillo had seven.
Clint Forbes had 13 digs and
Kendersley Marcellin had 21 assists.
Benedict travels to take on Carolina University next Saturday.
