Lady Tigers Go 5-3 At SIAC Roundup

MOBILE, Ala. – The Benedict College women's tennis team went 5-3 at the SIAC Women's Tennis Roundup.
 
Benedict opened the roundup with a 4-3 victory over Fort Valley State and a 5-2 victory over LeMoyne-Owen, before dropping a 4-0 decision to Tuskegee.
 
The second day saw Benedict take a 5-2 victory over Lane.
 
On Saturday, Benedict dropped a 6-1 decision to Albany State and a 7-0 decision to Spring Hill.
 
On Sunday, Benedict wrapped up the roundup with a 4-1 victory over Savannah State and a 5-2 victory over Edward Waters.
 
Valerie Essome went 5-2 at No. 1 singles during the roundup, with both losses coming in tiebreakers. Tanatswa Musabaeka went 6-1 in singles action, playing No. 2 and No. 3, with her only loss coming against Spring Hill. Patricia Wamba also went 5-2 in singles, playing No. 2 and No. 3, with her losses coming against Albany State and Spring Hill.
 
Benedict goes to 11-12 overall and 9-8 in the SIAC.
 
The Lady Tigers will take on Emmanuel College (Ga.) on Saturday, April 6 at 2 p.m. at the Richland County Tennis Center.
