COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College women's volleyball team got revenge against Livingstone, sweeping the Blue Bears 3-0 in their home opener on Tuesday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
Livingstone defeated Benedict 3-1 last week in the season opener. On Tuesday, Benedict jumped out early, taking a quick 11-2 lead in the first set, and cruised to a 25-12 win. Benedict rallied from a 16-12 deficit in the second set, going on an 11-2 run, and closed out with a 25-21 victory. In the third set, the Lady Tigers pulled away from a 17-17 tie, going on a 6-1 run to take the lead and took a 25-20 victory to clinch the match.
Benedict goes to 1-1 on the season. Livingstone drops to 4-1 with its first loss of the season.
The Lady Tigers hit .278 as a team, with
Desire' Young recording nine kills while hitting .583, while
Nyla Troncoso had seven kills while hitting .500. Livingstone hit .054 as a team.
Jadyn Murry had 17 assists, while
Willow Alls added 16 assists.
Benedict returns to action with a home match on Thursday against Morris. First serve is 6 p.m.
