COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College women's tennis team opened the 2025 season on Monday, falling to Augusta University 6-1.
 
Valerie Essome defeated Augusta's Andrea Gonzalez 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles for Benedict's only victory in the match.
 
The short-handed Lady Tigers forfeited one doubles match and two singles matches.
