Benedict Names McCree As Student-Athlete Social Media Intern

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Benedict College has named Damien McCree as Student-Athlete Social Media Intern for the 2025-26 school year.

McCree is a 2024 graduate of Benedict College with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications degree. During his student career at Benedict, McCree assisted the Tiger athletic department with photography and graphic design.

As Student-Athlete Social Media Intern, McCree will work in promoting Tiger student-athletes and teams over various social media channels, creating graphics and video content, and assisting with photography.

"I am excited to have Damien join the Benedict Athletic Communications team," said Dennis Switzer, Senior Director of Athletic Communications and Social Media. "He is an extremely talented graphic artist and photographer, and he has a passion for promoting Benedict College. I can't wait to see his ideas come to life over our social media platforms."

Following his graduation in 2024, McCree spent the last year as an administration and membership coordinator for TNT Martial Arts and Fitness. Among his duties was cross posting social media content and marketing campaigns to various social media platforms while fostering engagement. He also previously served as an intern at Psychii Art, where he assisted in the editing and production of short form content for social media marketing campaigns.

McCree's position is made possible by an NCAA Ethnic Minorities and Women's Internship Grant. The grant provides funding for full-time, entry-level athletics administrative positions for one academic year. It aims to support schools and conferences committed to increasing ethnic minority and gender representation in entry-level, intercollegiate athletics administrative positions. Benedict is one of six Division II schools or conferences to be awarded the grant for the 2025-26 academic year.

Benedict previously received an Ethnic and Minorities and Women's Internship Grant during the 2021-22 school year, which funded an Academic Support Counselor.
