ALBANY, Ga. – The Benedict College women's basketball team closed out the regular season with an 89-78 victory over Albany State University on Saturday.
Raven Johnson scored a career-high 21 points to lead the Lady Tigers. She also grabbed 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
Alaysia Nash added 18 points and
Gwendasia Page scored 17 points.
Albany State led by as much as 12 points late in the first half, 44-32, but Benedict was able to cut the lead to 44-36 heading into the halftime break. Benedict used a 12-2 run late in the third quarter to take the lead and had a 62-58 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Benedict used a 10-1 run early in the fourth quarter to build a 77-65 lead. Their largest lead came with 1:31 left to play after a free throw by Nash made it 87-73.
Benedict wraps up the regular season at 16-8 overall and 16-8 in the SIAC. Albany State falls to 14-11 overall and 13-11 in the SIAC.
Benedict now awaits the official pairings for the 2026 SIAC Championship. Benedict currently sits in third place in the SIAC East Division, and would be able to host a first-round game. The SIAC will announce official tournament seedings and pairings next week.
