Jamar Mitchell joined the Benedict College football staff as the assistant secondary coach in March, 2021.
Mitchell comes to Benedict College from Mandeville High School in Mandeville, La., where he served as an assistant football coach. He also served as a special education teacher at Lucille Nesom Memorial School in Tickfaw, La.
Mitchell was a four-year letterman and three-year starting defensive back at Southern University. He was a key member of the 2013 SWAC West Division championship team and 2014 SWAC West Division runner-up. He participated in the 2018 HBCU Spirit of America Bowl.
He graduated from Southern University with a degree in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations in 2017.
