Tigers Cruise Over Clark Atlanta, 85-62

ATLANTA – Benedict College placed four players in double figures and defeated Clark Atlanta University 85-62 on Monday night in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference basketball game.

Tydran Beaty led the Tigers with 17 points, while Xavier Collier had 15 points. Rickie Jackson chipped in with 11 points and Alex Brailsford had a season-high 10 points. Marcus Goode added nine points, a team-high seven rebounds and four blocked shots.

Benedict improved to 12-6 overall and 8-2 in the SIAC.

Dwayne Bingham led Clark Atlanta with 23 points and seven rebounds. The Panthers fell to 2-14 overall, 1-7 in the SIAC.

Benedict held as much as a 15-point lead in the first half, 35-20, on a jumper by Cassius Bell with 2:57 left in the half. Benedict had a 39-28 lead at the half.

Clark Atlanta cut the lead to 41-33 with 18:42 to play, but the Tigers pushed the lead back to double figures with a 6-0 run on a free throw by Collier, followed by a jumper and 3-pointer by Brailsford for a 47-33 lead. A fast-break dunk by Beaty gave Benedict its first 20-point lead, 65-44, with 9:02 to play.

The Tigers return home on Saturday to face Paine College at 3 p.m.
