Tydran Beaty scored 18 points and was one of five Benedict players in double figures as the Tigers snapped a four-game losing streak with a 71-53 victory over Miles College on Saturday afternoon in an SIAC contest.
Beaty also had a team-best nine rebounds for the Tigers, who improved to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the SIAC.
Marcus Goode had 14 points and four blocked shots for the Tigers.
Xavier Collier had 13 points and seven assists, while
Rickie Jackson had 12 points and
Brennan Reynard added 11.
Benedict broke a 24-24 tie in the first half by scoring the final eight points to take a 32-24 lead at the half, with Beaty scoring on a fast-break layup with one second left.
After Miles cut the lead to 34-29 early in the second half, the Tigers exploded on a 17-1 run to lead 51-30 on a layup by Beaty with 12:35 remaining.
The Tigers, now 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the SIAC, return home to face LeMoyne-Owen on Monday at 7:30 p.m., their first home game since Dec. 5.
Miles (3-7 overall, 0-2 SIAC) was led by Ty Lollar with 10 points.
