ATLANTA, Ga. – Benedict had a 4-1 lead over Morehouse College, but the Maroon Tigers rallied to top Benedict 5-4 in the semifinals of the SIAC Men's Tennis Championship on Friday.
In the doubles,
Shane Latchman and
Giovanni Plater teamed at No. 1 and
Zibusiso Ndimande and
Darreus Wheeler paired at No. 2 with wins to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead. The Tigers went up 4-1 in the best of nine when
Zibusiso Ndimande won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 and
Shane Latchman stroked his way to a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles.
Then Morehouse rallied back with wins at No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles to secure the win.
Benedict will face Tuskegee in the third-place men's consolation match on Saturday.
