Tigers Hold Off Albany State, 75-71

Box Score ALBANY, Ga. – The Benedict College Tigers held as much as a 16-point lead in the second half and then held off a late rally by Albany State to beat the Golden Rams 75-71 on Saturday night in an SIAC men's basketball game.

Andrew Crawford scored 26 points, hitting five 3-pointers, to lead the Tigers, who improved to 11-4 overall and 6-1 in the SIAC. Lamar Adkins added 17 points.

Benedict held a 37-29 lead at the half, and Crawford opened the second half with a 3-pointer. A 3-pointer by Allen Elmore gave Benedict its largest lead, 58-42, with 13:16 left to play.

The Golden Rams, now 7-8 overall and 4-3 in the SIAC, started to chip away at the lead and cut the lead to 67-66 on a 3-pointer by Larry Bullock with 3:24 left to play. Brennan Reynard followed with a three-point play and Crawford followed with a 3-pointer to give the Tigers a 73-66 lead with 1:16 left to play. Bullock hit another 3-pointer with 11 seconds left to make it 73-71, but Reynard sank two free throws with two seconds left for the final margin.

The Tigers continue their road trip with a contest against Fort Valley State on Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. The game will be available on Internet audio.
