NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers shot just 17.2 percent and dropped their third straight game, falling to Newberry College 72-40 in a non-conference women's basketball game on Tuesday.
Benedict fell to 5-3 on the season.
Carissa Shropshire led Benedict with 11 points, while
KaDeeja Vaughn added 10 points and had a game-high 10 rebounds.
Benedict made just two of 18 field goals in the first half and shot 11 percent. Newberry shot 56 percent in the first half and 51 percent for the game. Emily Perry led the Wolves with 23 points, while Samantha Creed added 17.
Newberry scored the first 16 points of the game as the Lady Tigers missed their first seven shots.
Victoria Dickerson scored the first field goal for the Lady Tigers with 10:30 left in the first half. Newberry led 37-14 at the half.
Benedict begins conference play on Saturday against Stillman College at 1 p.m.
