Lamar Adkins hit a jump shot with nine-tenths of a second to send the game into overtime and the Benedict College Tigers went on to defeat the Clark Atlanta Panthers 77-74 in overtime on Saturday night.
The win improves the Tigers to 14-9 overall and 9-6 in the SIAC.
The Panthers had taken a 69-67 lead with 14 seconds left on a 3-pointer by Dwayne Bingham. Clark Atlanta fell to 12-8 overall and 8-4 in the SIAC.
Adkins led the Tigers with 26 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots. Johnson added 15 points.
Jarrel Joye led the Panthers with 18 points.
Clark Atlanta took a 74-71 lead in overtime.
Brennan Reynard scored a layup to cut the lead to one point. Reynard sank two free throws with 1:09 to play to give the Tigers a 75-74 lead.
Deonte Johnson stole the ball with 14 seconds left in overtime and
Kareem Ransom scored a dunk with seven seconds left to give the Tigers a three-point lead.
The Tigers return to action on Thursday, travelling to face Claflin.
