Box Score CHARLOTTE -- The Benedict College Lady Tigers volleyball team opened the 2014 season with a 3-1 victory over Johnson C. Smith University on Saturday.

Benedict won 25-19, 20-25, 25-19, 25-20. LaPromise Boone had team-best eight service aces, to go along with her 20 assists, one kill, and three digs.

Loreana Leao had a team-best nine kills and two digs. Je'Nae Saunders has a team-best 12 digs and one assists. Terae Sweeting had four kills, three assists and one dig.

Benedict, now 1-0 overall and 0-0 in the SIAC, will play its next game on Tuesday against Paine College in Augusta, Ga. at 6 p.m.
