FAIRFIELD, Ala. –
Deonte Johnson scored 17 points, matching his season high, to help lead the Benedict Tigers to a 63-46 victory over Miles College in an SIAC men's basketball contest on Monday night.

Brennan Reynard and
Jordan Smith all added 11 points for the Tigers, who improved to 6-5 overall and 4-1 in the SIAC. Miles fell to 1-11 overall and 1-5 in the SIAC.
Benedict took a 29-16 lead at the half, as the Tigers held the Bears to 25 percent shooting in the first half.
Miles cut the lead to 33-27 with 13:46 left in the game, but the Tigers scored seven straight points to push the lead to 40-27. A 9-0 run gave the Tigers their largest lead, 49-30 with 9:45 left to play.
The Tigers return home to face Kentucky State on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
