AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers snapped a four-game losing streak with a 3-1 victory over Paine College on Tuesday night.
Benedict won the match 25-13, 26-24, 21-25, 26-24. Benedict is now 9-9 overall and 8-5 in the SIAC. Paine fell to 11-11 overall and 5-8 in the SIAC.
Jocolby Brown led the Lady Tigers with 16 kills and hit .423, while
Aaliyah Lawson added 13 kills.
P'yuncka Kearse-Peeples had a team-high 15 digs, while
Je'Nae Saunders and
Brianne McMillian had 10 digs each. Saunders had a team-high 44 assists.
Paine had a 24-20 lead in the second set, but Benedict closed out the set with six straight points to rally for the win. Brown scored the final two points on kills.
Benedict broke away from a 24-24 tie in the fourth set as
Kalena Wiggins recorded back-to-back kills for the win.
Benedict is back in action at home on Wednesday to take on Clark Atlanta University at 6 p.m.
