COLUMBIA, S.C. –
Regime McCombs hit five 3-pointers and scored 21 points to lead the Benedict College Lady Tigers to an 86-48 victory over Carver College on Monday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
The Lady Tigers, now 2-0 on the season, held Carver to just 18.5 percent shooting in the second half. Carver shot 28.3 percent for the game.
KaDeeja Vaughn added 12 points for Benedict, while
DaVontaye Merritt and
Destiny Betts had 10 points each.
Benedict outrebounded Carver 42-36, with
Kari Jones and
Terri Jacobs grabbing six rebounds each.
The Lady Tigers forced 30 turnovers, and converted those into 40 points.
After Carver, now 4-4, took an early 4-2 lead, Benedict outscored the Cougars 23-4 for a 17-point lead in the first period. Benedict extended the lead to 22 points, 32-10, in the second period and led 44-24 at the half. The Lady Tigers increased their lead to as much as 34 points, 59-25, in the third quarter and headed into the final quarter with a 31-point lead.

The Lady Tigers take on Fort Valley State in a non-conference matchup next Tuesday at 6 p.m. on the road. The next home game will be Dec. 12 at 3 p.m. against the University of Tampa.
