COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Tigers used a seven-point run in the second half to pull away from Spring Hill College and took a 72-64 victory on Thursday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.

Quayshun Hawkins led the Tigers with 17 points, while Brennan Reynard added 13 points.

Benedict improves to 11-6 overall and 6-2 in the SIAC with its third straight win. Spring Hill falls to 4-9 overall and 3-3 in the SIAC.

The Badgers had four players in double figures, led by Sawyer Glick with 18 points.

Benedict led 30-28 at the half, but the Badgers used a 7-0 run early in the second half to take a 39-34 lead with 15:37 on the clock. The Tigers came back to regain the lead, 43-41, on a 3-pointer by Jordan Smith. After the Badgers cut the lead to one point, the Tigers scored the next seven points to build a 53-45 lead with 7:16 to play after a layup by Christopher Spencer. The Badgers never got closer than five points the rest of the way.

Benedict is back in action next Thursday, Jan. 21, at home against Fort Valley State, starting at 7:30 p.m.
