Lady Tigers Roll Past Stillman, 76-53

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 18th-ranked Benedict College Lady Tigers outscored Stillman 40-22 in the second half to win their 10th straight game, 76-53, Thursday night in an SIAC contest.

Regime McCombs led Benedict with 19 points, connecting on five 3-pointers. McCombs ranks second in NCAA Division II in 3-pointers per game. Terri Jacobs had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Sarah Green also added 13 points. DaVontaye Merritt grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds as Benedict, the nation's leader in rebound margin, out-rebounded Stillman 54-31.

Benedict improves to 15-1 overall and 5-1 in the SIAC. Stillman falls to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in the SAIC.

Benedict led the entire way, holding a 26-12 lead at the end of the first period. The Lady Tigers built the lead to as much as 17 points in the second period, but Stillman scored the last nine points of the first half and cut the lead to 36-31 at the break.

The Lady Tigers held Stillman to just nine points in the third period and built the lead back to 12 points, 52-40, heading into the fourth period. Benedict went on an 8-0 run early in the fourth period for an 18-point lead.

Benedict is back in action on Saturday at LeMoyne-Owen for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
