MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The 18
th-ranked Benedict College Lady Tigers shot a season-high 54 percent from the floor while holding LeMoyne-Owen to 21.9 percent and cruised to their 11
th consecutive win with a 96-45 victory on Saturday night.
Regime McCombs scored 32 points for the Lady Tigers, making a season-high eight 3-pointers. It was her second game with more than 30 points, trailing the 35-point output against Newberry.
Benedict used its superior height advantage for a 36-8 advantage in points in the paint. Benedict out-rebounded LeMoyne-Owen 51-30 and the Lady Tigers recorded a season-high 10 blocked shots. The 96 total points was also a season-high.
Benedict improved to 16-1 overall and 6-1 in the SIAC. The Lady Magicians fell to 4-9 overall and 2-3 in the SIAC.
KaDeeja Vaughn added 13 points for Benedict, while
Terri Jacobs narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds.
Sarah Green recorded season-highs with eight rebounds and four blocked shots.
The 21.9 percent shooting for the Lady Magicians was a season low for Benedict opponents.
Benedict led the entire way, holding as much as a 17-point lead in the first period and increased the lead to 24 points at the half. Benedict led by 42, 76-34, heading into the fourth period.
Benedict is back in action on Thursday with a home contest against Spring Hill College at 5:30 p.m.
