COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers got a season-high 12 kills from freshman
Adrionna Washington as the Lady Tigers defeated Edward Waters College 3-1 in a non-conference volleyball match on Wednesday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
Benedict won the match 25-17, 25-13, 21-25, 25-10 to improve to 10-10 on the season.
Freshman
Taylor Stephens also had a season-high 10 kills, while
V'Aira Harris had a double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs.
Aaliyah Lawson also reached double-figures in kills with 10.
Torcealon Kelley also registered 14 digs and recorded six service aces.
Brianne McMillian had 37 assists.
Benedict pulled away from a close match in the first set to take a 20-8 lead. Edward Waters rallied back to cut the lead to 22-16, but Benedict closed out the first set on a pair of Edward Waters errors.
The Lady Tigers scored seven straight points in the second set to take an early 8-4 lead. A six-point run made it 15-6 and Benedict built a 23-10 lead. Kills by

Kiarra Pettway closed out the set.
Edward Waters avoided the sweep by taking the third set. Edward Waters had a 20-13 lead before Benedict stormed back to cut the lead to 23-21 on a kill by Stephens. Edward Waters took the next two points to win the set.
Benedict broke away from a 6-5 lead in the fourth set with six straight points. Leading 15-9, the Lady Tigers reeled off nine straight points with Kelley serving, including serving for a pair of aces in that run.
Benedict returns to action on Friday with a non-conference home match against Fayetteville State University at 6 p.m.
