ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Chowan University outscored Benedict 48-28 in the second half to beat the Lady Tigers 77-69 in a non-conference women's basketball game on Saturday.
Benedict had a 41-29 lead at halftime, but shot just 30.8 percent in the second half. Chowan outscored the Lady Tigers 27-11 in the third period to take a 56-52 lead heading into the fourth period.
Destiny Betts led Benedict with 22 points.
MiKeisha Moore added 18 points.
Zairra Harris scored 11 points and had a team-high eight rebounds.
Benedict falls to 1-3 on the season. Chowan improves to 4-0.
Benedict travels to Fort Valley, Ga., next weekend to take on Miles College on Friday and Fort Valley State University on Saturday in non-conference games.
